The remainder of the year is packed with exciting events.  At the September 8 meeting we will be honoring one of you and your "Wind Beneath My Wings" honoree.  Still time to enter your short essay - you could be the chosen one!October 13 features our wildly popular table top expo event. Vendor tables are available - members get first consideration. Only 35 spots available. This is our third year and it will be the best yet.

Congratulations to member Diane de Mailly, owner of DDM Metering Systems, for being recognized as Business-woman of the Year by NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners).   Diane has made her mark in a male-dominated industry and has exceeded even her own expectations.  An article appeared in the Ventura County Star on May 24 about her achievements. We're proud you are a member of VCPWN! Congratulations!! 

Calling all walkers! I have put together a team to walk a 5k down the lovely Ventura beach promenade on April 30. The team is Mind Over Matter - the cause is NAMI - the National Alliance for Mental Health.

It's a New Year and we have opportunities for meeting sponsorship open! February is Women's Health Month - March will be celebrating Mardi Gras - April is our next Silent Auction - May is our Anniversary Month, and June will celebrate the new incoming Leadership Team. 

On December 10, 2010, President-Elect Shirley Lorraine was recognized by her employer, Santa Barbara Business College, as Outstanding Instructor of the Year for the Ventura campus. 
Shirley teaches classes in medical front office subjects such as medical terminology, office procedures, coding and insurance, to name a few. In addition, she takes on classes when needed in professional resource development, intro to business and others.

Want to get your business information on every chair and dinner table? You can - as a meeting sponsor. For the low sum of $100 (for members) you can pepper your materials AND have five minutes on the platform to promote your business.

The August 12 meeting is our semi-annual all networking meeting - wouldn't you like to have your materials be the focal point of the meeting? August is available....

I'm going to be walking a 5K for NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, on Saturday, May 1. Won't you join me? The more the better - there is no entrance fee although donations for the cause are certainly accepted.

I've set up a "team" on the NAMIWalks website. The team is called MindMeld. Our "theme" will be tie-dye apparel (just seems appropriate). You can sign up with the team online or just email me at slgumby@sbcglobal.net and let me know you'd like to walk with me.

The business conference has been postponed to the Fall so that more planning can take place. In the meantime, please let me know what you'd like to see/hear/participate at the conference, suggestions for speakers, and anything else you'd like the Board to know as we move forward.

The green light has been given to put together a business conference this year. Several outstanding presenters are already waiting in the wings for the great event.

A tentative date is Saturday, April 24. In order to firm it up, we need a venue (that we can afford and will be fitting for a professional group). Your suggestions/contacts are most welcome. This needs to get confirmed ASAP.
