Ventura Art Festival
On November 14th 2009 from 11am-6pm, the inaugural Ventura Art Festival will take place in an elegant tent in Mission Park across from the historic San Buenaventura Mission. The idea for a fine art event in Ventura makes sense because the city's goal is to be Southern California's new art city. Wandering though the tent, you will see a blend of local artists and artists from other parts of Southern California.
The host of the festival, the Ventura Chamber of Commerce, hopes to bring commerce to art. For art to thrive in the new art city, artists must be able to make a living! One way to show support for artists is through Purchase Awards. Purchase Awards are a financial commitment made by an individual or company prior to the festival to show their support for the artists. In return, the purchaser of the award receives an invitation to the private reception prior to the festival, recognition in the festival program and in the artist's exhibit space, and leaves the event with a piece of art!
Come see the painting, sculpture, textiles, photography and jewelry. While enjoying the art, attendees can sample appetizers from local restaurants, enjoy wine and beer and listen to live music throughout the day.
The Chamber would like to give back to the art community as well, by establishing grants that will be available to art organizations.
Tickets are $15, which includes a drink ticket.
Enjoy a day in the park at the Ventura Art Festival.
